New York FKT Summer

It’s been a long winter here in New York.  But the snow is gone, and the sun is out.  It’s time to start planning some adventures for 2015.

I’ve recently been interested in the phenomenon of the “fastest known time” (FKT).  While FKT’s have been established on many of of the most popular trails in the US (Grand Canyon, Appalachian Trail, etc), the FKT records for many routes in the New York area are spotty at best.

Thus, the purpose of this blog is to publicize a handful of the best routes in the tri-state area and document my times on those routes during 2015.  Hopefully it will spur others to do the same and together we can build up a solid body of FKT data on the best routes in the New York area.

Peter Bakwin’s site is a good FKT resource and has data on a couple dozen trails in New York state.

Below are some of the routes that I plan to tackle during 2015 and document on this blog.  If you have suggestions, please share.
